36 Week Update
Jessica here (picture obviously from last week),
I have been so bad at doing updates. Between working full-time, getting ready for the baby, and in general feeling exhausted, I haven't had the energy to do anything but my basic daily tasks. I figured since the baby is almost here I needed to at least do one more update!
How far along: 36 weeks and 2 days!
How big is the baby: About a month ago my doctor was concerned about my bump size so we did another ultrasound. During that ultrasound I had extra amniotic fluid and the baby was measuring in the 77%. We did another ultrasound last week and although my amniotic fluid looks normal now (great news!), the baby is now measuring in the 99% and her weight and height are like a baby in the 39 week range. At this point in the pregnancy the ultrasound measurements can be off by 20% bigger or smaller, but either way our little girl is a chunky monkey (the doctor's exact words lol). We will do another ultrasound at 39 weeks and most likely induce or do a planned c-section at that point. So I probably have less than 3 weeks until she's here, unless she decided to make an appearance soon on her own (which is what the doctor is hoping).
Cravings: I haven't had any weird cravings lately but I am still loving mexican food, chinese food, and chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. I'm starting to get full faster because she is stuffed in there!
Symptoms: Let's just say I'm super uncomfortable right now. Lots of Braxton Hicks, I'm only getting about 1-2 hours of sleep at night because of pain in my hips, having to pee, and nightmares. My back hurts constantly and I waddle when I walk haha. I've also started to get a bit nauseous lately.
Weight Gain: My pregnancy weight gain has been about 23 pounds, but since I gained 20 pounds during IVF, I've technically gained 43. I still plan on sharing our IVF story. It just feels so personal that its difficult for me to put it all together. Hopefully soon I can get brave enough to share it!
Stretch Marks: Unfortunately yes. I actually got them during IVF (again, a story for another day), but they get worse every day no matter what oil I slather on them.
Sleep: As stated above, I sleep so badly! Along with every other pregnant woman I suppose, I have to get up several times a night to pee. Plus, baby girl is currently sitting near my spine and so there is almost no position that is comfortable! I toss and turn all night (much to Skyler's displeasure), and end up getting only 1-2 hours of sleep a night. Skyler bought me a Snoogle pillow, and that has helped some, but I've come to the realization that I might get more sleep once she is here then I will get for the rest of the pregnancy.
Thoughts: I am doing the nursery reveal on the blog later this week, and I'm so excited to show you what I've been working on. We are packing our hospital bags this week and I have had 2/3 of my showers already. My last one is this Friday. We will be posting details from the shower that Danica and my mother-in-law threw me as well. It's finally hitting me that this is happening. The more I feel her moving, the more excited I get. I dream a lot what she is going to be like, if she will like me, if I will be a good parent. As I'm sure you can tell, I have lots of nerves at this point, but she can't come soon enough!
