20 Weeks

Jessica here,

I'm so excited to finally share the news that I'm pregnant! After trying for 4 years and undergoing so many fertility procedures including IVF, it feels like such a miracle that I'm now halfway through my pregnancy and baby girl Johnston will be here so soon! I plan on talking about my infertility and IVF journey over the next couple of weeks, but today I'm so excited to be able to give a pregnancy update like I've seen on countless other blogs, and thought for so long I would never have the opportunity to do!

How far along: 20 weeks 5 days!

How big is the baby: The size of a mango or a banana (depending on what app I use lol)

Cravings: Anything asian or mexican. I hate chocolate and love apples!

Symptoms: Still throwing up every day, but the nonstop nausea from the first trimester has gone away!

Weight Gain: I'll save this one for when I talk about IVF...

Stretch Marks: Unfortunately yes. I actually got them during IVF (again, a story for another day), but they get worse every day  no matter what oil I slather on them. Any ideas of what to try?

Sleep: I sleep so badly! Along with every other pregnant woman I suppose, I have to get up several times a night to pee. Plus, baby girl is currently sitting near my spine and so there is almost no position that is comfortable! I toss and turn all night (much to Skyler's displeasure), and end up getting only 3-4 hours of sleep a night. I guess it's all preparing me for when she comes right?

Thoughts: Still feeling overwhelmed that my dream to be a mom has come true. We didn't want to announce it on social media until we were far along just because this journey has come with a lot of disappointments.  I already love her so much and even though IVF and pregnancy has definitely been the most difficult physical thing I have ever gone through, I feel so grateful to have the opportunity to be her mommy. I'm starting to put together her nursery and I'm so excited to show you the finished result.

Mom Life!

This is just a normal mom day outfit for me! I'm all about the jeans and a T-shirt with flats, booties, or riding boots. And let's be honest, some days..actually most days, a hat.

I found these super cute boots that look just like Hunter boots at Called to Surf. I love, love, love them! They were only $40.00. I love my JuJuBe diaper bag as well. It has been perfect and has everything I need in a diaper bag.

Pumpkin Spice Favorites

Let's be honest, one of the best things about the fall is the proliferation of pumpkin spice novelty food items that you can find in every store. I love pumpkin everything and search the blogosphere and store shelves every year to find the latest and greatest pumpkin goodies. Today for Friday Favorites I'm sharing some of my favorite finds this year! Happy Fall!

1. Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte: I know you have heard of Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Latte, but have you ever tried their Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte? Danica and I don't drink coffee and we have found this to be the most perfect fall drink to fulfill our chai tea and pumpkin spice cravings!

2. Chobani Greek Yogurt has a really yummy pumpkin spice option but when I tried this Oikos Pumpkin Pie Greek Yogurt there was no going back. It's basically the most delicious yogurt I have ever tried and I highly recommend it.You can find it at any grocery store including Walmart.

3. Thomas Pumpkin Spice Bagels are the bomb. You can find them at any grocery store and they have the perfect light pumpkin flavor to get your day going!

4. If I'm not eating the above mentioned bagels, I'm eating this oatmeal. This is the perfect quick and easy meal in the morning to fill you up and give you a taste of that pumpkin spice goodness. It makes my microwave smell so good, and my taste buds so happy!

5. If you are looking for a healthy pumpkin spice treat, look no further than Quest Bar's Pumpkin Spice Protein Bar. I realize not everyone will like this, but I have found Quest Bars to be the best tasting protein bar. Their pumpkin pie bar kind of tastes like a pumpkin rice krispie-treat to me and I love it!

What are your pumpkin spice favorites?

They are so stretchy and comfortable, and the distressing is in the perfect spot on the knee. The booties are currently 30% off as well.

A Guide to Santorini

-Jess here-

Skyler and I recently returned from a 17 day trip to Italy and the Mediterranean. Santorini had been on my bucket list for awhile ever since my grandmother, (a world traveler), told me as a little girl that out of everywhere she had been, Santorini was the most beautiful. Skyler and I chose not to use a travel agency so we spent about 6 months researching what to do in all of the places we were going to visit. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some tips and tricks for the best places to visit in Italy and the Mediterranean.

To Do:

Akrotiri-Akrotiri is a Minoan Bronze Age settlement found on Santorini. The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption about 1627 BC and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of frescoes, and many other objects and artwork. The settlement has been suggested as a possible inspiration for Plato's story of Atlantis. What made Akrotiri amazing is that the settlement was so advanced. They had a sewage system and toilets, custom made beds, showers, a marketplace, and an aqueduct type system that brought water into the buildings. The buildings are several stories tall and they have remarkably not found a single skeleton anywhere in the settlement. They believe that the village used the early earthquakes as a type of alarm system and the people left with intentions to return in a few days. They apparently never made it back and the village remained buried until 1967. It is definitely a must see!

Oia-Oia is the village that you see whenever you google Santorini. It has an amazing view of the Caldera and the incoming cruise ships, and has the beautiful white and blue architecture that has made Santorini a top ten tourist destination in the world. Oia is filled with adorable shops and restaurants and definitely ranks as the most picturesque place I have ever been.

Lunch in Imerovigli-Imerovigli is considered one of the most beautiful towns in the Aegean Sea region. It is 300 meters above the Caldera and has absolutely gorgeous views of the Caldera and other towns. The village has been designated a "preserved" area and has retained much of its traditional features. Theres also a fortress called "Skaros" Castle, which was built by the invading Venetians in 13th century AD.
