Nursery Inspiration

Hi Everyone,

I am currently putting together my baby girl's nursery! I'm going with a color palette of gold, white/cream, and light pink. I've put together a design board of all the pieces I am using in the nursery, and the pictures that are inspiring me! Enjoy! I can't wait to show you all the finished product.

Favorite Makeup Products of 2016

I thought it would be fun to put together a little post of all of my favorite makeup products of 2016. I found some that I will be hooked on for life..or as long as the company makes them at least!

Benefit Cosmetics is killing it in my opinion. I have found a few products from their line that I absolutely love and cannot live without. the PORE fessional for starters..most amazing primer of all time! It is a little bit of an investment at $31.00 but so worth the splurge in my opinion. It seriously makes my foundation go on flawlessly.

Here are a few of my top favorite products! Check out my Youtube video to see the rest https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzOCFhU6zM0

dr brandt pores no more is another primer option that I love. As you can see I am totally willing to splurge on my primers. I think they make all the difference in the world.
This specific product (lemon aid) I hadn't heard any reviews on so I kind of took a shot in the dark. Since I have had such a good experience with other Benefit products I figured it would be good and I was right! I got it because I have veins on my eyelids that are super dark blue, concealer doesn't give me the coverage I need. I wanted to cover them completely and this totally does the trick.
Before I had my eyebrows microbladed I used this Brow pencil by NYX everyday. I love how it creates such natural looking strokes that made my brows look fuller without giving them a fake appearance.

Make sure to check out our YouTube channel video as well!

Decorate for Christmas with me!

Some think it's early and others think it's right on time! I have always loved having my Christmas tree up for Thanksgiving. The two holidays go perfectly together in my opinion. Here are a few pictures of my home decorated for the Holidays! I also did a little Vlog for our YouTube channel following me around the house while I decorated.

I love the soft glow of Christmas lights on cold nights.

Gender Reveal Party

We decided to do genetic testing early on since sometimes your eggs can be damaged in IVF procedures such as the ICSI procedure we added to our IVF cycle. The genetic testing also gives you the ability to find out the sex of your baby really early on. We did the genetic testing at around 13 weeks when the baby's fetal cells would be easily detectable in my blood. We left on our babymoon trip to Italy a few days later so we decided we would Skype the doctor's office at about a week into our trip to find out the results. Our time in Florence was my favorite part of our trip, not only because Florence is gorgeous, but also because that's where we found out the gender of our baby. After reassuring us that the baby appeared to be perfectly healthy as far as chromosome defects went, the nurse told us we were having a girl. I immediately burst into tears. I will remember that moment for the rest of my life.

During IVF, something that gave me a lot of hope that it would work was a dream that I had where I was holding a baby girl. I felt so strongly for those first 13 weeks that I was having a girl. Even though we would have been thrilled for a baby of either gender, I felt so strongly that it was a girl that it was hard to even think about us actually having a boy.

When we got home from our trip a few weeks later we made our families wait one more week before hosting a small gender reveal bbq with Sky's family and my grandma. We also face-timed my family from Texas in since they weren't able to make it in for the party.

I found some ideas on Pinterest that I thought would work great. I ordered a giant black balloon from Amazon with pink confetti inside and a tissue paper tail to go on the balloon from Etsy. When we actually went to get the black balloon blown up with gas, we realized that we had been sent a balloon with about 12 holes in it. We ran to Zurchers to try and find another giant balloon, and realized that Zurchers was running low and only had yellow and light blue for balloon options. It must have been hilarious to watch Sky and I attempt to stuff the pink confetti from the defective black balloon into the light blue balloon in the middle of the Zurchers' balloon aisle. Once we got the blue balloon blown up we realized that it was totally see-through! We had about 5 minutes before guests were going to arrive at our house so Sky just threw some pink tissue paper on the bottom of the balloon to hide the confetti. It must have worked at keeping the confetti a surprise since most of both sides of our families guessed that the baby would be a boy, but just keep in mind when you watch the video that I did not intend for my balloon to look so ridiculous! It was so amazing to see everyone's surprise when pink confetti flew out! I also had bought a blue and pink cake with pink frosting in the middle for dessert.

Danica put together a little video of the party that we are showing you today! Enjoy!

20 Weeks

Jessica here,

I'm so excited to finally share the news that I'm pregnant! After trying for 4 years and undergoing so many fertility procedures including IVF, it feels like such a miracle that I'm now halfway through my pregnancy and baby girl Johnston will be here so soon! I plan on talking about my infertility and IVF journey over the next couple of weeks, but today I'm so excited to be able to give a pregnancy update like I've seen on countless other blogs, and thought for so long I would never have the opportunity to do!

How far along: 20 weeks 5 days!

How big is the baby: The size of a mango or a banana (depending on what app I use lol)

Cravings: Anything asian or mexican. I hate chocolate and love apples!

Symptoms: Still throwing up every day, but the nonstop nausea from the first trimester has gone away!

Weight Gain: I'll save this one for when I talk about IVF...

Stretch Marks: Unfortunately yes. I actually got them during IVF (again, a story for another day), but they get worse every day  no matter what oil I slather on them. Any ideas of what to try?

Sleep: I sleep so badly! Along with every other pregnant woman I suppose, I have to get up several times a night to pee. Plus, baby girl is currently sitting near my spine and so there is almost no position that is comfortable! I toss and turn all night (much to Skyler's displeasure), and end up getting only 3-4 hours of sleep a night. I guess it's all preparing me for when she comes right?

Thoughts: Still feeling overwhelmed that my dream to be a mom has come true. We didn't want to announce it on social media until we were far along just because this journey has come with a lot of disappointments.  I already love her so much and even though IVF and pregnancy has definitely been the most difficult physical thing I have ever gone through, I feel so grateful to have the opportunity to be her mommy. I'm starting to put together her nursery and I'm so excited to show you the finished result.

Pumpkin Spice Favorites

Let's be honest, one of the best things about the fall is the proliferation of pumpkin spice novelty food items that you can find in every store. I love pumpkin everything and search the blogosphere and store shelves every year to find the latest and greatest pumpkin goodies. Today for Friday Favorites I'm sharing some of my favorite finds this year! Happy Fall!

1. Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte: I know you have heard of Starbuck's Pumpkin Spice Latte, but have you ever tried their Pumpkin Spice Chai Tea Latte? Danica and I don't drink coffee and we have found this to be the most perfect fall drink to fulfill our chai tea and pumpkin spice cravings!

2. Chobani Greek Yogurt has a really yummy pumpkin spice option but when I tried this Oikos Pumpkin Pie Greek Yogurt there was no going back. It's basically the most delicious yogurt I have ever tried and I highly recommend it.You can find it at any grocery store including Walmart.

3. Thomas Pumpkin Spice Bagels are the bomb. You can find them at any grocery store and they have the perfect light pumpkin flavor to get your day going!

4. If I'm not eating the above mentioned bagels, I'm eating this oatmeal. This is the perfect quick and easy meal in the morning to fill you up and give you a taste of that pumpkin spice goodness. It makes my microwave smell so good, and my taste buds so happy!

5. If you are looking for a healthy pumpkin spice treat, look no further than Quest Bar's Pumpkin Spice Protein Bar. I realize not everyone will like this, but I have found Quest Bars to be the best tasting protein bar. Their pumpkin pie bar kind of tastes like a pumpkin rice krispie-treat to me and I love it!

What are your pumpkin spice favorites?

A Guide to Santorini

-Jess here-

Skyler and I recently returned from a 17 day trip to Italy and the Mediterranean. Santorini had been on my bucket list for awhile ever since my grandmother, (a world traveler), told me as a little girl that out of everywhere she had been, Santorini was the most beautiful. Skyler and I chose not to use a travel agency so we spent about 6 months researching what to do in all of the places we were going to visit. Over the next few weeks I will be sharing some tips and tricks for the best places to visit in Italy and the Mediterranean.

To Do:

Akrotiri-Akrotiri is a Minoan Bronze Age settlement found on Santorini. The settlement was destroyed in the Theran eruption about 1627 BC and buried in volcanic ash, which preserved the remains of frescoes, and many other objects and artwork. The settlement has been suggested as a possible inspiration for Plato's story of Atlantis. What made Akrotiri amazing is that the settlement was so advanced. They had a sewage system and toilets, custom made beds, showers, a marketplace, and an aqueduct type system that brought water into the buildings. The buildings are several stories tall and they have remarkably not found a single skeleton anywhere in the settlement. They believe that the village used the early earthquakes as a type of alarm system and the people left with intentions to return in a few days. They apparently never made it back and the village remained buried until 1967. It is definitely a must see!

Oia-Oia is the village that you see whenever you google Santorini. It has an amazing view of the Caldera and the incoming cruise ships, and has the beautiful white and blue architecture that has made Santorini a top ten tourist destination in the world. Oia is filled with adorable shops and restaurants and definitely ranks as the most picturesque place I have ever been.

Lunch in Imerovigli-Imerovigli is considered one of the most beautiful towns in the Aegean Sea region. It is 300 meters above the Caldera and has absolutely gorgeous views of the Caldera and other towns. The village has been designated a "preserved" area and has retained much of its traditional features. Theres also a fortress called "Skaros" Castle, which was built by the invading Venetians in 13th century AD.
