Friday Favorites

1.

2.

3.

4.

1. If you saw yesterday's post you know that I am getting back into running full swing! This Friday Favorites I am showing you my wish list for all things fitness! First up, a Fitbit! I have been wanting a FitBit for awhile now, this one is so cute!

2. I trained in Saucony's for my last half marathon, and it was the first race I've ever done that I didn't have issues with my feet! I am in love with this brand. No shoe is created equal though so make sure and do your home work and test out each brand before settling on one. You won't regret it!

3. If you live in Utah and are considering doing a half marathon this year you have to do the Provo Half! I have done this race 3 times, going on 4, and it is by far my favorite race of all time. It is perfect for beginners, and the finish line is extremely well done. And to top it off the course is soo pretty.

4. I have to have my shot bloks when I start training long distances. This specific flavor (black cherry) has caffeine, not all of them come with it but I like having the extra kick.

What are your fitness favorites right now?

Have a great weekend!

Outfit Details
Running leggings: Gap (old) similar style (here) on sale!! | Running top: Marshall's similar (here and here) | Shoes: Brooks brand | Headband: Sports Authority (old) similar style (here)

I thought I would put my first New Year's Resolution out for everyone to see! I am beginning to start training for my first half marathon of the year. I couldn't be more excited to get back into my routine of running regularly. I miss the endorphins! I will most likely be following my routine that I posted a few months ago Half Marathon Training For The Busy Woman. I will post if I decide to try something new. I plan to give updates on how my training is going! I am prepared for this to be harder than it has in the past as I have never taken this much time off from regular routine running before, I have some serious muscle strength to build back!

Anyone planning to run any races this year??

14 Days of Valentine's Day

Valentine's Day is one of my favorite holidays! A few years ago I started a tradition of surprising Sky with gifts every day leading up to Valentine's Day. The first year I surprised him on January 31st with a box of 14 things I loved about him (one thing for every day leading up to Valentine's), his favorite chocolate bar, and a small gift. Then the fun began. Every day I would surprise him with either gifts or dates. We had so much fun, and once Valentine's Day came along we were more than ready to celebrate the big day! I thought I would share some of the ideas I have used over the past few years. They can be given in any order!

February 1st: Redvines and a RedBox Gift card with a note that said it could only be used on movies he actually wanted to see.
February 2nd:  I made his favorite pie with a note that said "You're my sweetie pie." I made a pie that his mom usually only makes once a year so he was pretty excited.
February 3rd: A candy gram made with all his favorite candy.

February 4th: "You rock my world." Poprocks and an iTunes gift card.
February 5th: Breakfast in bed. I made these cinnamon rolls.
February 6th:"I've got the hots for you" I gave him something special;)

Days 7-10 Skyler was out of town on a business trip so I packed him envelopes to open every day!

February 7th:I wrote him a letter telling him my thoughts on our wedding day. I included a box of Reeses Pieces because "I loved him to pieces."
February 8th: I wrote him a letter telling him all the things I appreciated about him, and I gave him his favorite Poptarts because "he's a popstar" to me. (Cheesy I know).
February 9th: I put famous love poems in an envelope for him to open.
February 10: I gave him a church talk about marriage.
February 11: On day 11 he came back from his trip and I had sparkling cider, chocolate covered strawberries, and his favorite thing from Taco Bell waiting for him along with an invitation for him to be my Valentine.

February 12: New cologne.
February 13: A coconut Sweet Tooth Fairy cupcake because "he's my cupcake."
Valentine's Day: A skinny tie and a dress shirt for our big night out!

You can find more ideas here. (Sorry for the poor picture quality, these pictures were from 2012 when I didn't have a good camera).

Will you be trying it this year?

Outfit Details
Bag:Mark Jacobs, same bag (different color) | Jacket: Vince Camuto (old), similar here |
Shoes: Tory Burch, similar here | Necklace: Jcrew Factory (sold out), similar here |

I am loving my new Marc Jacobs bag! I found it in the airport in Hawaii. It was 50% off and I just couldn't pass up a good deal. I typically buy myself one designer bag a year unless I find an amazing deal then I'll make an exception :) This one is so bright and fun and totally makes me want summer to just be here already!

What designer purchases do you have your eye on lately?

Building a wardrobe takes years, but having a few key essentials can go a long way to making you look super chic while you are putting your wardrobe together. We have gathered for you today the items that we believe are the essentials that every girl should have in their closet. Friday Favorites

1. This site is fast becoming my favorite place for recipes. This salad is so easy to make and so delicious. It will make you feel better when you eat #6 for dessert tomorrow night.

2. This was released yesterday and it is guaranteed to make you laugh if you like football at all. The portion featuring the Dallas Cowboys' coach is so hilarious.

3. I'm ordering this blouse with some birthday money I got this week. I found the site from reading this blogger, and since her style is basically perfect, I'm hoping this site turns out to be perfect as well. I will keep you posted.

4. I love Bauble Bar jewelry, and I'm hoping to add this necklace to my collection.

5. This quote helps me keep things in perspective. My bad days could be a lot worse.

6. Skyler bought this icecream for me on my birthday, and let's just say it's beyond divine.

Have an amazing weekend!

A piece of Hawaii

whale spout!
We were able to see so many whales diving down!
My adorable sis in law Lexie

This rock looked like a heart. We had to hike down to it!
The scenery around us was so pretty!
Nothing better than a Maui sunset
My adorable little nephew

I put out a few peeks of my trip to Hawaii on our Instagram. It's hard to capture such an amazing trip in a few photos! We had such a fun time on Maui and Oahu. This was my first time to Maui and it exceeded my expectations. We were able to go whale watching and diving, both of which I had never done before. Whale watching was on my bucket list so to say the least I was excited!
What is better than getting a killer tan in the middle of January?! I'm so sad to watch it fade back to the clear I started out at.

What trips are you taking this year?

All Black Everything

 Outfit Details
Blazer: Ann Taylor Loft | Jeans: Wit & Wisdom | Blouse: Nordstrom Rack, similar | Purse: Francesca's Closet (old), similar | Necklace: Stella and Dot | Sunnies: Kate Spade | Shoes: Nordstrom (sold out), similar here

Happy Birthday to me! I'm 27 today, and boy have I been dreading it! On the bright side, Sky bought me this blazer for my birthday that I was lusting after on this version of Friday Favorites, so getting older has sucked a little less. As soon as I saw this blazer on someone at a business meeting, I knew I had to have it. The combination of leather and black blazer (which is my go to for everything) is pure perfection! Ann Taylor Loft also has been having the best sales, which means that Skyler got this at an amazing price, and also means I get more birthday presents;)

I'm giving a presentation today on Workers' Compensation and then I'm taking off to celebrate! Wish me luck!

Current Cravings

It's my birthday week! I am obsessed with birthdays, mostly because I love the fact that everyone gets a day that is all about them! Birthdays also make me think about gifts (hehe), so today I am sharing my current cravings which I wouldn't mind seeing magically appear on my birthday (sorry Sky).

What are you currently craving?

I hope you all had an amazing weekend!

Friday Favorites: Hair

I thought I would mix it up a bit and use this Friday Favorites to share my favorite hair products!

1.

2.

3.

4.

5.

1. My number one favorite shampoo right now is by L'oreal Professional. It is the Intense Repair for Dry Hair shampoo. This is not the L'oreal that you buy in the grocery store, this can only be found in salons and beauty supply stores.

2. I have always been a fan of Redken, their color line is one of my favorites to use. The salon I work at now Suggestions is a full Redken salon and I love it! We carry all Redken and Pureology products. This hair spray happens to be one of my favorites. I am not a heavy user on hairspray or product in general so I like how light this spray is.

3. I have mentioned Mythic Oil in my hair tutorial in the past. This stuff is amazing!! It is by far the best hair oil I have ever tried. I have really fine hair so it looks greasy super easily and Mythic Oil doesn't do that at all. I have this stuff stock piled at my house. It is another L'oreal Professional product that has to be purchased at a salon or beauty supply :)

4. I am a firm believer in the benefits of using coconut oil. I have replaced most of my lotions for coconut oil and it keeps my skin so soft and smooth. I talked a little about my skin issues in my fitness goals post. Because of those issues, my skin is extra sensitive and coconut oil really helps with that. Aside from that, I love using the oil as a mask for my hair once a month to help seal in my broken ends and prevent further breakage.

5. The Wet Brush. I love this brush. It can be used on wet or dry hair, and doesn't damage your hair at all! Plus it comes in super cute colors and is very inexpensive, so it basically doesn't have a downside!

What are you favorite hair products?

Have an amazing weekend!

Easy Recipes for the Busy Woman

I work extremely long hours, and in the vein of Danica's Half Marathon Training for the Busy Woman, I thought I would share my go-to recipes for dinner in a snap. All of these recipes can either be made in the crockpot, or in 20 minutes once you get home. I love cooking but I've learned that dinner will not get made during the week if it's going to take more than 20 minutes to cook. The below recipes are in bi-weekly, if not weekly rotation and make sure dinner is on the table and we aren't eating out every night.

                            Waffles

I've learned some shortcuts in the past couple years for cooking dinner faster:

1. Buy prepped vegetables.
Trader Joe's and Costco have so many options to choose from to help you save time. I love buying the  big bags of stir-fry vegetables and having them on hand anytime I need to make a quick stirfry.
2. Use your crockpot.
This is a woman's best friend. Ten minutes of effort in the morning, and you have the perfect meal when you get home.
3. Make Breakfast one night.
One night a week I will make either breakfast sandwiches or waffles. As long as I stay away from cinnamon rolls, it's quick, delicious, and filling. Try adding your favorite breakfast meal to your weekly rotation. It will make a huge difference.
4. Buy precooked chicken.
The rotisserie chicken is a life saver. I buy the Costco rotisserie chicken because it is bigger and then I use it for lunches and dinners all throughout the week. Cooking meat is usually the time sucker of any meal so having pre cooked meat is key when you don't have a lot of time.
5. Make the salad your main entree.
Salads are great meals for when you are busy because you can basically add anything to them and still have a great meal. Skyler and I love the Pasta Caesar Salad mentioned above because the pasta makes it filling enough for my husband, but it still feels light enough for me not to feel like a heffalump.
6. Make all in one meals.
Save your fancy meals for the weekend. I try to cook meals that don't need sides and will still fill you up. If its mostly a meat entree I'll try to add a vegetable to the recipe to make it more well-rounded. Crockpot meals are great for this because they usually include meat, vegetables, and rice or potatoes.

What are your favorite quick recipes?

Danica's Current Makeup Must-Haves

Jess shared her favorite makeup items here, so I thought I would share my favorite makeup products today!

Brows:
I have never had thick brows and unfortunately it took me until my 20's to discover filling them in makes such a massive difference. If you do not have a brow pencil or powder and have thought about trying it, my personal all time favorite is the Jane Iredale Bitty Brow Kit. It is so easy to use and comes with a wax to tame your brows before using the color. It comes in a lighter color for blondes and a little darker for brunettes. Suggestions Salon carries all of the Jane products, this one just happens to be the one I can't live without.

Eyes:
I have deep set eyes and am not a huge fan of eye shadow since it makes me feel like my eyes are giant black holes. I usually stick to the safe side and use light pinks and golds. Some of my very favorites come from Mary Kay. This Ballerina Pink Matte Shadow is my go to for the lid and this Sparkling White Shimmer Shadow is ideal for the inner corners and under the brows. I also like to use this shimmer powder from MAC to add a little shimmer to the mix here and there, it's massive and will last me the rest of my life!

Under-Eye:
Are any of you like me and look like you got punched in the face when you don't have your concealer on? Yeah I can't leave the house without mine on. I have tried a lot of different concealers and this one definitely takes the cake. It's a favorite of Maskcara as well so you know it's a good one.

Lashes:
Since I do eyelash extensions those are my favorite of course, but if I don't have them on I always use the Ultimate Mascara from Mary Kay. I have tried basically every mascara ever made and this one is my favorite for building and lengthening my little baby lashes.

Foundation:
I have been pretty blessed to have clear skin so I don't go for the heavy coverage foundations. 80% of the time I use a loose mineral powder. If I do use a foundation it's typically this one as it goes on very light and I can barely tell I have it on.
Bronzer:
I am in love with bronzer that can double as contour powder, and this one does just the trick. I have been using this bronzer since high school and I have yet to find a better one!
These are all of my go-to favorites right now, but I'm always trying new things and experimenting with products! What are your make-up must haves currently?

XOXO,
