Favorite Home Workouts

Sometimes I get sick of the gym, and just like to workout at home or outside. I am currently sick of the gym and am doing just that. I have fallen in love with the FREE workout videos on YouTube and decided to gather all of my favorites in one place! My all time favorite free workouts can be found at I follow their instagram and they are seriously so motivating to get out and do some sort of workout everyday. They have short 10 min workouts, or longer 20-30 minute ones. Lately 10 minutes has been all I have had, and love that their short workouts make me burn so much in so little time.

My all time favorite Tone It Up workout  is this HIIT. It isn't too long but it gets my heart rate going and no matter how many times I do it I still manage to get sore!

I wasn't super into yoga, but the Tone It Up girls helped me see the importance of implementing a stretching routine. I love their yoga workouts and love, love, love their foam rolling routine. I always feel so relaxed after a good foam roll. If you don't have one I seriously recommend it for anyone. I sit at a desk all day and rolling out my legs saves my lower back. Here is a good one on Amazon if you are in the market.

Please tell me you have tried Jillian Michael's workouts?! I had heard about her on The Biggest Loser and then decided to search her on YouTube. There are so many free workouts from her on YouTube guys! It's never ending. If I want to get in a super good sweat I do the Jillian Michael's 30 day shred level 1 or level 2.

Let's be honest, there is nothing better than a good booty workout. I love it when my legs and booty are sore and this one is my all time favorite. Go to leg and butt workout.

I HATE working my abs, doing sit ups is sooo boring to me. I thought I had died and gone to heaven when I found this AB workout. There is such a great combination of workouts in this 30 minute ab session that I didn't even realize I  worked my abs until the next day when I could barely move because I was so sore. Seriously TRY IT.

I found Teddy Bass on YouTube as well. He is Cameron Diaz's personal trainer! This leg and bum workout is a killer and only 10 minutes long! Who doesn't have 10 minutes? Also if you guys have not read Cameron Diaz's new book The Body Book you have to, it is a must read if you have any interest in health and fitness. I seriously loved it.

I'm sure some of you have seen the Pop Sugar Fitness name out there. It is pinned on Pinterest quite a bit. They are always coming out with new home workouts that seriously kick butt. This full body routine is one of my favorites, and all you need are some dumbbells! Also this bodyweight bootcamp workout is a really good home workout and a little longer if you want to get that 30 minutes in.

I hope you guys find this list of workouts to be useful. They allow you to be creative and save money on a gym pass! There is something for everyone out there, you just have to do a little searching to find your favorites!

What's your favorite free fitness video?

Staying Healthy During the Holidays

1. Stay active.
Everything in life is about give and take. Calories in and calories out. Its easy to get so busy over the holidays that we stop working out. Unfortunately whatever you intake over the holidays will have to come off in January, so make it easy on yourself. Studies say that the average person gains 5 to 10 pounds during the holiday season. That's basically a whole dress size! If you don't have time to work out everyday, make sure you make that extra effort to hit the gym or do a home fitness video on the days when you know you will be over-eating. People also get really stressed over the holidays, so those endorphins you get from working out are much needed! Plus, have you ever noticed that you are not exactly a ravenous wolf after you get done working out? Working out right before your next holiday party can help keep your cravings in check and help you to make healthier decisions at the party! So keep moving people!

2. Try a little of everything.
There is a lot of yummy food during the holidays. People definitely bring their A game when it comes to appetizers and treats for gatherings. Unfortunately these recipes don't exactly have A+ nutrition. One way to combat this and still enjoy yourselves at holiday gatherings is to make sure you are are only trying a little bit of everything. Its easy to start down the food line and fill your plate with the first 5 items, and then feel like you have to come back later to fill your plate with the next 5 items. But if you only take one spoonful of everything, then you get to try everything, but only have one plate of food. Which is definitely going to help keep those 5 pounds away! Everything in moderation is key!

3. Stay hydrated.
When we get busy, our water intake seems to be the first thing to go. Staying hydrated will not only help your skin recover from those late nights of holiday partying, but it will also help keep you feeling fuller which means you won't feel the need to scarf down everything in sight at the earliest opportunity. Experts recommend drinking half of your body weight to maintain a healthy weight. If you are only drinking hot cocoa and other holiday drinks, its going to make it really hard to drink all of that water. Bring a water bottle with you everywhere you go during the day and I guarantee that water will disappear before you know it!

4. Bring something healthy to those holiday parties.
Let's face it, there's not a real focus on nutrition during the holidays. Thats why its super helpful if you bring something that's healthy, and that you are actually interested in eating to the party. That way if everyone else bought 1.5 billion calorie dishes, you have something you can snack on throughout the night without feeling guilty or feeling left out that everyone is eating around you.

5. Never go to a holiday gathering hungry.
One of the biggest problems is that parties usually happen at night. Which means that you're coming straight from work or from taking care of kids all day and you are famished. This usually leads to eating everything in sight once you get to the party. Take a quick second to eat a bag of veggies or drink a bottle of water before you head to the party. It will make it a lot easier to make healthy choices when you don't feel you are starving!

6. Get your sleep!
Maintain 6-8 hours of sleep. I have long ago given up on trying to get 8 hours every night during the week, but I find if I can get at least 6-7 hours and then get a little extra on the weekend, I can stay feeling healthy and energized. If you feel energized it will be much easier to get to they gym, or make healthier eating choices!

7. De-stress Yourself!
Between social events, holiday shopping, and family gatherings, your calendar gets booked and you have less time for yourself. As the stress from your crazy schedule builds, your propensity for cravings and calorie rich foods increases. Stress also increases cortisol levels, which leads to the weight gain you are trying to avoid. So pencil in some "you" time by getting your nails done, doing yoga, listening to your favorite music, reading a book, and working out! You will thank yourself later and enjoy the holidays much more!

P.S. Don't forget to enter our giveaway for your chance to win 21 prizes worth more than $1800!

Friday Favorites: Black Friday Edition

Thanksgiving and Black Friday are next week! Can you believe it? I thought I would share some of the things I've got my eye on for the Black Friday day of craziness! I didn't used to participate in all of the Black Friday shenanigans until I met my husband and discovered it can be pretty entertaining and fun. A lot of the deals really can't be beat. Its the perfect time for us to get great deals on a bunch of the items we need for our new house.

1. Yes Tupperware is on my list, you can never have too much Tupperware, especially if your eating on the go as much as my husband and I are. I've got my eye on the glass Tupperware set, but Walmart is also selling a 28 piece plastic set for $6.98 on Black Friday! This deal is amazing, so we usually stock up on more than one set and use it as wedding gifts throughout the year too!

2. Lets be honest here, we all love Target. They are doing 10% off gift cards on Black Friday, as well as tons of other amazing deals that we will be sharing with you next week.

3. This is one of the more expensive items on my list, but Zgallerie is 40% on Black Friday so I plan on hopefully purchasing it then. This is the one time Zgallerie goes that low so I don't plan on missing out!

4. We are hoping to get a new bed for the new house. We want to upgrade to a king size. I am in love with this headboard from Target and hoping that it goes on sale for Black Friday! We need a mattress too, so let me know if you have heard whisperings of any killer sales on that sort of thing.

5. I always hit up Gap online on Black Friday! They have the best sales on all their workout clothes, usually at least 50% off. These workout pants are one of the things on my list.

6. Nordstrom is also doing some Black Friday deals. These Zella capris will be 25% off. Nordstrom's workout line has amazing quality items that I would say compete with Lululemon. Nordstrom's workout clearance items will also be an extra 40% off!

Make sure to check back with us next week for all the best Black Friday deals, and don't forget to enter our giveaway for your chance to win more than $1800 in prizes!

House Update: The Fun Stuff

Hi Everyone!

I've finally got to the fun part of building a house: picking everything that goes inside! My in-laws own Westco, a flooring and design store, so the process of choosing what we want the inside of our house to look like has been much easier than it typically would! Jantz and I spent all of Monday night choosing materials we thought would look good. I am super indecisive so I thought I would share some of my ideas here and see what you all think of them!

This is what we are thinking for the kitchen counter tops. I wanted marble but everything I have heard is negative as far as the up keep and maintenance. I really don't have time to babysit a counter top, so I have been searching for other materials that have the same look. This material is granite but has a similar look to the marble I was lusting after. I have also found a similar look in quartz so once we get a final quote for the cost of everything we will make our decision.

This beauty is the back-splash we both love. The picture just doesn't do it justice. The silver is super shiny and eye catching, and the white has the marble look to it like the counter top. I am really leaning towards this for the kitchen backsplash, as well as putting it around the fireplace to tie them together. I like it so much we might use it in the master bathroom as well!

This is my kitchen inspiration. We are going for the same bright white cabinets and dark wood floors. I am obsessed with the contrast! We decided on a grey painted island over black though.

This is the very neutral tile we chose for the master bathroom and hall bathroom. I didn't want to bring a whole lot of attention to the floor so we just went with a basic look. The texture on it is amazing though.

I wasn't sure on this tile, but my husband is obsessed with it so I thought I would let him choose one thing;) We are thinking of putting it in the laundry room, the garage entry, the mudroom, and the half bath. It is very eye-catching, and kind of has the appearance of a wood grain.

This is the wood floor we decided on for basically the whole main floor. It will be in the entry, the great room, the kitchen/pantry, down the hall way, and all throughout the master bedroom. We both aren't the biggest fan of carpets and trying to keep them clean, so hard floors throughout was the goal. I plan to get big area rugs to warm up the spaces. This wood floor has a wax finish instead of a high shine one so it wont show every spec of dust or scratch. (I am super excited about that!)

Let me know what you think and if you have suggestions based on your experiences!

The Best Christmas Gift List for Guys

Shopping for men is really difficult. That's why we decided to be really nice and gather all the best things for your man in one place so Christmas shopping can be a breeze for you! A lot of the items on this list will be on sale big time on Black Friday and we will be sure to post those deals for you as we find them! My husband has hinted that he would really, really, really like a lot of these items (okay not the blazer, but it will look really good on him). I'm hoping I can at least make some of these things appear under the tree come Black Friday:)

Anything on the list we didn't cover? What does the guy in your life want for Christmas? What deals are you looking for on Black Friday?

My Favorite Cardigan

Outfit Details
Sweater: Sosie | V-neck: H&M | Jeans: Nordstrom | Boots: Kohls (old), similar | Purse: Francesca's Closet (old), similar, similar | Watch: Michael Kors | Sunglasses: Kate Spade

It is so flipping cold outside! Last Sunday it was 72 degrees. It currently is 19 degrees outside...Let's just say Utah moves fast and thus my winter wardrobe has had to as well. This cardigan is currently on repeat times a million because it is so comfortable and warm! I wear it to work with a black blouse and a pencil skirt, and at home with jeans and a v-neck...and I'm warm both places (and hopefully cute as well). Sosie has been my go-to place to shop for cute sweaters and cardigans for the fall and winter season this year. It's always nice when you can stay warm without having to sacrifice style right?

What's your favorite sweater/cardigan of the season?

Homeade No-Bake Energy Bites

  • Honey
  • Peanut Butter
  • Chocolate chips
  • Oats
  • Water
  • Protein powder
  1. Combine 3 cups of oats, 1 1/2 cups of peanut butter, and 1/2 cup of honey in a mixing bowl.
  2. Add 1/3 cup of water and a scoop of protein powder to the oats mixture. (I use chocolate)
  3. Add as many chocolate chips to the mixture as you want. (I do half a bag).
  4. Form balls out of the mixture. If the balls aren't sticking together add more peanut butter or honey.
  5. Place in freezer.
  6. Enjoy!
These have been a major hit with the husband. They are so easy and quick and are a great snack if you are in a hurry! They taste amazing while being pretty great for your waistline when you are in the mood for something sweet. I love to eat them right before going to the gym to help give me energy for my workout. I know that many of us start to set goals to get healthier as the new year approaches. This is a great recipe to help with those goals!

Friday Favorites

1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5 | 6 | 7
The holidays are coming! The holidays are coming! Can you tell I'm excited? I couldn't get the holidays out of my mind for this week's Friday Favorites, so I thought, why fight it? This weeks favorites are a reflection of things I have been craving in preparation for the holiday season.

Down East Shimmer Down Top: This top is so cute! Sequins instantly add a touch of glamour and festivity to any outfit. This top is definitely on my must buy list.

Fall Printables: There are so many free fall printables on Pinterest! Printables are an easy way to add decor. I'm always trying to stretch my dollar around the holidays, and fall printables definitely are a cute way to do that.

Faux Fur Infinity Scarf: I love faux fur! I haven't been able to find a faux fur vest that is very flattering on me, but I'm thinking this scarf could be an answer.

Long Sleeve Drape Top: If you don't feel like wearing red, green, or gold clothes, black is still a great option for the holidays. Add some red or gold pumps and its the perfect holiday outfit.

Ankle Strap Pumps: I've seen these same pumps for over $200 so imagine my surprise when I saw them at Target for basically the best price ever! Reason no. 1,456,890 why Target rocks.

BR Monogram Boucle Jacket: Banana Republic has really been on point with their jackets this season. My favorite one unfortunately is sold out, but this one is pretty gorgeous too!

Bath and Body Works Christmas Candles: Bath and Body Works candles are the best. Yankee Candle is pretty expensive so I love that Bath and Body Works has candles for such a great price that smell so dang good!

What are your favorites for the holiday season!

Playing Dress-up...

Outfit Details
Leather Jacket: Macys (old), similar, similar, similar | Shirt: BP (in-store), similar | Beanie: BP | Pants: Nordstrom | Boots: Nordstrom (old), similar | Sunglasses: American Eagle | Purse: Michael Kors (outlet), similar | Wallet: Kate Spade (sold out), similar

One of the things I love about clothes is the ability they give you to temporarily become someone else. This outfit is very different from my normal day to day outfit. Let's remember I'm a preppy lawyer, so a beanie, leather jacket, and leather boots is quite the departure. I find myself always pinning outfits like these on Pinterest and when I found this beanie at Nordstrom, I decided to play a little dress-up. I have to admit channeling my inner biker girl for a day was pretty fun. Maybe I will try this look out more in the future:)

What styles have you been trying lately?

After we are done slaving away in the kitchen, we plan on slipping something similar to this outfit on to sit down to dinner and celebrate with our families. We love everything about this outfit!

1. You won't believe this but until this past weekend I had never been inside an Anthroplogie... It was love at first sight: the home decor, the candles, ahhh!!! I want everything in that store. This particular vase caught my eye and I had to have it for my house. (The price wasn't bad either!)

Top 10 Favorite Things To Do In Vegas

One of the great things about living in the Salt Lake area is that Vegas is only a 5 1/2 hour drive away! While I'm not a huge gambler (thats an understatement, playing $1 in a penny slot is a lot for me) or club goer, I still end up having such a fun time every time I go to Vegas. The gorgeous hotels, the amazing restaurants, and the shows and exhibits just can't be beat! This last trip was definitely one of the funnest vacations I have been on, so I thought I would share with you today my top 10 favorite things to do in Vegas!

The Bellagio is my favorite hotel. The decorations are beyond gorgeous and change with the seasons. The fall decor was up during my last trip, and the attention to detail was unreal. And let's not forget about the Bellagio fountains. I think it's impossible to stand by those and not imagine yourself in Ocean's 11. The fact that this is all free is just a plus:)

These shows are unreal. They are pretty pricey, but they are worth every penny. The performers are truly spectacular. We went to Mystere at Treasure Island during this last trip, and the performer's feats were so awe inspiring! Forgive the picture quality, I had to use my iPhone as regular cameras were not allowed inside the show.

This show is amazing. While I'm a huge Britney fan and was destined to love it, my husband who is not a Britney Spears fan was also blown away. It was the most dynamic performance I have seen. Even if you hate her music you will want to see this show. Trust me.

Serendipity 3 is one of my favorite restaurants. We have made it a tradition to go every time we are in Vegas. Modeled after its New York City counterpart, the decor is absolutely adorable, the entrees and brunch are delicious, and the frozen hot chocolate is perfection. Ask to sit outside on the patio so you can people watch.

Located in Planet Hollywood, this is my favorite mall to shop in when I'm not looking for designer goods (go to the Venetian and Caesar's Palace for that). I bought a pair of low top Converse sneakers on this last trip at Miracle Mile. You can buy a pair here. They were the perfect shoe to walk around in all day.

I've always wanted to go to this so I was pretty excited when we got a chance on this last trip! I definitely have a new appreciation of the human body after this exhibit. It's located in the Luxor (the hotel shaped like a pyramid) which also houses the Titanic exhibit. It's a definite must-see!

Let's get this out of the way right now, the LVH is a dump. It's undergoing renovations, but it is not a nice hotel. However...the Benihana inside of it is awesome! It's the original Benihana, and the restaurant does a great job of making you feel like you are in a different country. It's a definite must-see! (I borrowed these pictures from LVH's site, my Iphone just couldn't quite pick up everything in the dim lighting).

This museum is awesome bordering on creepy. It's pretty crazy how lifelike all the figurines look. I absolutely had images of The House of Wax while walking around.  It's definitely something you need to experience at least once! You can find coupons online for discounted tickets!

Señor Frogs is pretty new to the Vegas scene. I've been to the one in Cancun, and this one is just as good. We went during the day, so we missed the craziness that happens at night, but the decor is great to look at, and the food is delicious and relatively inexpensive for Vegas!

If you can't make it to their San Francisco store then Vegas is the next best thing. Their sundaes are so yummy. They most likely have a billion calories, so find someone to split them with (like my cute mother-in-law), and you are set. My favorite thing to get is the strawberry hot chocolate fudge sundae. It's basically the best thing ever.

What are your favorite things to do in Vegas?

P.S. You only have one day left to enter to win our $50 Nordstrom Giftcard Giveaway! We will announce the winner on Friday!
